Emerging Generation Masterclass
Masterclasses are an additional extra, add it on to your conference registration
When Rules Need to Be Broken is a masterclass designed for the next generation to take a fresh look at the unspoken rules they have grown up with. Led by Franco Lombardo and Thomas Clark, you’ll explore how childhood beliefs and family dynamics shape the way you show up in the business today, and what happens when those old rules start getting in the way.
Rules are everywhere. The most powerful are not those imposed by society, but the self-imposed rules and beliefs we adopt in childhood. Shaped by family, peers, culture, religion and society, these rules form our narrative identity.
Within these narratives, we construct unspoken rules about what we can and cannot do, think or become. In families where multiple characters, each with their own narrative identity and self-imposed rules, interact these beliefs often collide.
But what happens when the rules we internalised as children no longer serve us as adults? Many of us cling to them unquestioningly. These unspoken rules, however, often shape decisions in ways that can jeopardise both relationships and the longevity of the family business.
This powerful and interactive masterclass invites the next generation in family business to identify, explore and challenge the unspoken rules within their families and personal relationships. Through experiential learning, participants will also develop tools to communicate more effectively, compassionately and with integrity.
