Founded in Hobart in 1977, INCAT is recognised as a global pioneer in lightweight high-speed shipbuilding. From its shipyard on the banks of Prince of Wales Bay, the company has delivered more than 100 large passenger and vehicle ferries operating in 24 countries.
Today, INCAT is leading the next era of sustainable shipbuilding, with the world’s most advanced electric shipbuilding program, including construction of the largest electric ship ever built.
This site visit offers a rare behind-the-scenes look inside the shipyard, with the opportunity to learn about INCAT’s family-led journey, explore the production line and hear directly from some of the Clifford family who continue to guide the company’s direction today.

Transport
Bus transportation has been arranged to INCAT with pick up from the Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart. We estimate a duration of 2.5 hours for this site visit. Exact times for pick-up and return will be confirmed closer to the date. In the meantime, please plan to be available from 12:00pm.
Based in Hobart, INCAT is Australia’s largest commercial shipyard and one of the few globally capable of producing large aluminium vessels for the international market. In recent years, INCAT has made a strategic shift from building diesel powered ships to environmentally friendly vessels, including the world’s largest electric ferry currently under construction.
