Presented by James Smith, the session offers high-level foundational learning in an informal and engaging format. The aim is to plant seeds by introducing core concepts such as why people invest, how to get started, the importance of saving and investing, and key terms commonly used in investment markets. The content is designed to make these ideas accessible and practical, giving the emerging generation a solid starting point as they build their financial knowledge.

This session is tailored for those aged 18 to 35, but in line with our commitment to supporting and educating our FBA community, all members are welcome.

About James Smith

James has over twenty-five years of investment market experience (cash equities). Prior to joining Providence in 2015, he held the position of Deputy Head of Domestic Sales at CIMB Securities (Australia) and was a member of the CIMB Equities (Australia) Management Committee.
He has also held positions as Director -Sales at RBS, ABN AMRO and Sales at Deutsche Bank. James was responsible for Melbourne Sales/Account management in his previous roles over the 15 years and between 2012-2015, was also responsible for New Zealand.
James also sits on the Investment Committee at Benetas as an external advisor.
