Visit Pooley Wines, a third-generation family vineyard in Tasmania’s Coal River Valley. Enjoy a guided tasting showcasing estate-grown wines, see the heritage-listed Belmont home and restored Prospect Country House, and hear directly from the family about their history, winemaking philosophy and commitment to sustainable practices.
Pooley Wines is a renowned family-owned vineyard, established in 1985 by Jack “Denis” and Margaret Pooley. Now in the hands of the third generation, the family continues to craft exceptional wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Coal River Valley, from two separate vineyard sites, their commitment to sustainable Viticulture and minimal-intervention winemaking.
Enjoy a guided, structured wine tasting at the cellar door, located beside the heritage-listed, Georgian-built Belmont home. The tasting showcases the distinct characters of the Butcher’s Hill and Cooinda Vale vineyards, set against a charming and authentic Tasmanian backdrop.
The experience also includes a guided walk through the grounds of the restored Prospect Country House. This boutique property, lovingly renewed by the Pooley family, offers a glimpse into Tasmania’s rich history and the family’s dedication to preserving and enhancing their environment.
Family members will lead the tour, sharing insights into the estate, as well as the history and legacy of the Pooley family business.

Family Business Site Visits are included in your delegate rate. You will be able to attend one of the eight Site Visits on offer. If you are planning to attend, make sure to share your preference during registration and we will do our best to accommodate your selection, but it cannot be guaranteed.

Tasting & cheese/charcuterie board will be provided for afternoon tea.
Transport
Bus transportation has been arranged to Pooley Wines with pick up from the Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart. We estimate a duration of 3.5 hours for this site visit. Exact times for pick-up and return will be confirmed closer to the date. In the meantime, please plan to be available from 12:00pm.
